• Additional host ports can be successfully added to a host.

• When viewing the host port properties of an EVA4400, the port speed and world wide name (WWN) of the host port will appear if an embedded switch is present.

• The name of the EVA reverts back to its original name from <WWN>-Slave Only when the master controller path is restored.

• The mpx100/100b is now connected to the HP EVA storage system as a Microsoft Windows 2008 host.

• Resolved an issue where single sign-on connection failure was encountered by client applications after 24.86 days of server reboot.

Symptom: When the password is set for an EVA4400 storage system through the web-based operator control panel (WOCP) or for all other supported EVA storage systems through the operator control panel (OCP), and the EVA storage systems are connected to HP Command View EVA for the first time, HP Command View EVA does not notify the user that the EVA is password protected. It displays the following message:

Solution:

Before connecting an array to HP Command View EVA for the first time, clear the management server password. To clear the management server password (using the WOCP on the EVA4400):

In the Storage section, click Disk Storage Systems and then select HP StorageWorks 4000/6000/8000 Enterprise Virtual Arrays under EVA Disk Arrays.

Symptom: After installing HP Command View EVA 8.x/7.0.1, if you change the server name or the server setting from a local/workgroup system to a domain member/controller system or vice-versa, then subsequent login fails with insufficient privileges.

Solution: Reinstall HP Command View EVA 8.x/7.0.1 and configure the local/domain settings accordingly during installation.

To disable the IPv4 address scheme on the management port of the MPX100 server, set the static IPv4 address to 0.0.0.0.

To remove the HP Command View EVA software suite when it is installed on a drive other than C:, install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5 or later on the management server.

To install Java Runtime Environment:

• If you use HP Command View EVA 8.0 to view an array managed by HP Command View EVA 8.0.2 that was started on a system running IPv6 address, then the managing server IP address is displayed as 0.0.0.0. However, if the array is viewed from another management server running HP Command View EVA 8.0.2, then the managing server IP address is displayed properly.

• If a host is created in HP Command View EVA 8.0.2, the IP address property field of the host is not displayed in the correct format when viewed from HP Command View EVA 8.0 or earlier.

• The auto discovery option is not supported for IPv6 enabled management port controllers (ISCSI controller). Use the “Add iSCSI Controller” option to enable support for IPv6 configurations.

• If a remote array is not available to a DR group, you cannot change the preferred path of the DR group member through HP Command View EVA.

• The DR group remote node orphans continue to display in HP Command View EVA when the EVAs are zoned away or upgraded from one EVA model to another.

• The EVAPerf fn command works properly with large configurations.

• Displays the complete friendly names of virtual disks, including any spaces included in the names.

Symptom: On an x64 (64–bit) platform, Windows Performance Monitor does not provide HP Command View EVAPerf data directly.

Solution: Start Windows Performance Monitor using either of the below mentioned modes:

This enables interactive viewing of HP Command View EVAPerf data, but collecting a performance trace file is not possible in this mode.

Symptom: When HP Command View EVAPerf 8.0 client queries HP Command View EVAPerf 8.0.2 server or vice versa, the hps command does not return metrics.

Solution: Execute the query between HP Command View EVAPerf 8.0.2 server and HP Command View EVAPerf 8.0.2 client.

• The drt command does not show accurate values for free command resources and free write resources for XCS 0900xxxx.

• DR groups can now be created in asynchronous mode.

• The CAPTURE CONFIGURATION command works properly for arrays running controller software versions earlier than XCS 6.200 and for configurations containing DR groups.

• The LS VDISK FULL command continues to retrieve the properties of virtual disks even if there are errors present in some of the virtual disk objects.

• The CAPTURE CONFIGURATION command works properly when an iSCSI controller is in the configuration.

• Introduced two new APIs — FindVolumeByWWN and RefreshObjectFromArray in the CIM class HPEVA_StorageConfigurationService. These APIs enable selective refresh of objects from the array.

  NOTE: RefreshObjectFromArray can refresh only HPEVA_StorageSystem, HPEVA_StorageVolume and HEPVA_StoragePool instances.

• Introduced a method CreateOrModifyStoragePoolWithSettings in the class HPEVA_StorageConfigurationService. This method is used to create a storage pool by specifying the disk type, protection level, and occupancy alarm thresholds.

• Added a new association (HPEVA_DiskDriveProtocolController : CIM_ProtocolControllerAccessesUnit) between the HPEVA_DiskPortSCSIProtocolController and HPEVA_DiskDrive. This association is used to obtain the controllers associated with each disk drive.

• Implemented a subset of the Block Server Performance sub profile. This provides performance statistics for the following with the help of the HP Command View EVAPerf interface:

  • Storage system

  • Storage volume

  • Host and disk ports

  • Controller and physical disks

• Added a new association (HPEVA_StoragePoolDiskGroupComponent : CIM_ConcreteComponent) between the HPEVA_StoragePool and HPEVA_DiskGroupExtent. This association is used to associate the storage pools with their disk extents.

• The GetSupportedSizeRange function returns an error code 1 (CIM_ERR_FAILED) when an invalid parameter is passed as an input.

• Modified the HPEVA_ElementConformsToProfile association to also include the passively managed arrays.

Symptom: When IPv6 is enabled and IPv4 is disabled on a Windows system, the SMI-S provider displays an error.

Solution: Do one of the following:

• The GetSupportedSizeRange method calculates the minimum and maximum pool sizes based on the protection level of 'none'. If these size ranges are used to create a pool with a protection level of 'single' or 'double', the size of the resulting pool may not match the exact specified size provided while creating the pool.

• The FindStorageVolumeByWWN method should not be used with the volume type as Container.

• When a volume is in deletion_in_ progress state, a getInstance/EnumerateInstances query to the class HPEVA_StorageVolume may result in null/unknown values or even zero (in the case of numbers) for properties of that particular volume.

• SMI-S EVA does not register itself with Service Location Protocol (SLP) on IPv6. However, SMI-S EVA registers on IPv4 address, if available.

• If IPv6 is installed after HP Command View EVA, you must restart the HP StorageWorks CIM Object Manager service in order to enable CIMOM to work with IPv6.

• Applications using SMI-S EVA do not have access to data during system restart or SMI-S EVA service restart for cache building. The time duration for which complete data is not available depends on the number of arrays and objects being discovered. The status of cache building can be retrieved using the GetArrayRefreshStatus tool. For more information, see GetArrayRefreshStatus tool.

• If a request is made to create a storage pool from near online drives and an insufficient number of drives are available to create the pool, then the request will fail.

• If an array has only online disks, pool creation using the CreateOrModifyStoragePoolUsingTubDrive method results in the creation of a pool with online disks.
